I tried to separate characters for 4 layers, (I always draw them at the same layer
) they are line, colour for adjust (highlights, etc), colour (just flat colours, but layer is multiply), and shadow.
I feel this method is easy to change the colour of clothes or hairs until you like
and I tried some functions of Photoshop that I first time to used!
